Live Sports Return

Live sports are starting to make a comeback in Pennsylvania. Jennerstown Speedway will host practice days on the next 2 Saturdays, May 23rd and May 30th. The opening night of races at the track is scheduled for Saturday, June 6th. The NASCAR Cup Series returned to racing after a 2-month hiatus. South Carolina’s Darlington Speedway hosted the Real Heroes 400, but no fans were allowed at the track. Kevin Harvick won in career victory number 50 making him 12th all-time on NASCAR’s wins list. Alex Bowman took 2nd place while Kurt Busch ended in 3rd place.

We had a live golf event on TV, the Driving Relief Skins Game fundraiser. Florida’s Seminole Golf Club was the site, again with no fans allowed. The teams were 2-time Sunnehanna Amateur Champion Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolf taking on Dustin Johnson and World number 1 Rory McIlroy. Fowler played solid golf. He birdied 7 holes, but the two teams played to a tie through 18 holes. So, the event turned into a closest-to-the-pin competition at hole number 17. The winning shot from the best player in the world. McIlroy sticks the ball closest to the pin. The event raised more than 5 million dollars for Coronavirus relief efforts.
