Johnstown Shooting Death

More information on the overnight shooting death of a Johnstown man. The Coroner tells us an early morning shooting on Sunday in Cambria County has left on person dead. Cambria County coroner, Jeff Lees has identified the victim of the shooting near the Coppersdale Homes in Johnstown early Sunday morning as 26-year-old Armel Joe.

Johnstown police say Armel Joe of Johnstown’s West End was shot around 1am Sunday morning. They say a group of around 75 people were gathered near the Coppersdale Homes in Johnstown when shots rang out. Joe was transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. An autopsy was performed Sunday afternoon. Lees said he determined Joe’s cause of death to be massive blood loss caused by a single gun shot wound to the abdomen.

Johnstown Detective, Mark Britton says Police are working to talk with people who were at the gathering the night the shooting occurred. Police say they have also reviewed video footage captured by cameras around where the incident happened. Cambria County District Attorney, Greg Neugbauer says this is still an open and active homicide investigation.
